Knitting for Charities, and More!

Christmas knitting is chaotic. That right there is enough to throw any knitter over-the edge. I am currently working on my lace scarf, after tearing it out and re-doing it. I am also working on the ugliest scarf you'll ever see, along with my sweater. And fitting in charity knitting as well.

In Progress
Lace scarf: 5/16 rows for bottom of lace pattern
Ugliest scarf: About 85% of the way done
Drops Sweater: Done with the body!

Completed Recently
Big Boy Blanket:

60 Scarves in 60 Days Scarf #1:

Pink Thing:

I also have matching Blue thing, but no pictures to share.

News!:
It's my 17th bday on Wednesday, and my mom took me shopping on Sunday for my secret Present, a new camera! I got the new Cannon Powershot A590 with Image Stabalizer, and I love it! This is also the explanation for the pictures. I have a camera, so no more picture-less posts!

I'm a Sickie...

I'm sick today. I started feeling under the weather on Sunday (yesterday). It has given me time to finish up my swatch kit and textiles homework though. However, I am completely bummed because we were supposed to start learning about Rayon and Acetate today. For some reason, I have always been infatuated with rayon, it's some kind of un-explainable illness, I guess you could say.

As for knitting, I am almost done with the body of my jumper. I am done with the front, and am finishing up the back. As soon as I am done with the body, I must start and finish the drops lace scarf. I have chosen Misti Alpaca Lace (100% Baby Alpaca) yarn for this particular project. I have a beautiful grayish purple to knit it with too.

My poor spinning wheel is still injured, I need some wood glue to fix it up. Then I can do some more spinning and post pictures of some handsome yarn.

EGGS!.... And some knitting too...

I Have Eggs! I Have 3 Diesel Eggs! They will be going into the incubator tomorrow, after I go pick up some more eggs from another breeder. She will not be running her incubator until November, so I offered to throw however many she could collect into the Brinsea with my eggs! In 18-21 days, hopefully I'll have baby chicky pictures to show you!

I have been asked to make 2 different items for xmas presents this year. One is the 86-10 Headband by drops, the other is the 108-4a scarf by drops.

I found a pattern that I must share! Peeps! I love Peeps! Chickies are amazing, and these little stash busting chicklets are so cute, I'm making them to add to my ML homeless shelter sets, not to mention at least one for myself....It says that they are ducks, but I say they are chickies! Not ducklings...

For being so good tonight, I give you baby pictures from a previous hatch (everybody loves then and now pics, right?):

Christmas Presents

I have finished Allie's Christmas Presents. She has a hat/slouchy tam in mint green, and a scarf made from lion brand fun fur *shudders*. I am continuing my baby items, and am over 1/2 way done with one in lion brand homespun. This blanket is in Dusty Blue and Olive. It's 4 big blocks in garter stitch that make a square. Yep, I'm fancy.

Michael is making life difficult. He doesn't want armwarmers. Even neon orange and black armwarmers. So I offered to make him a stegosaurus in neon orange and black. But yesterday I went to Beverly's to pick up some paper for a Textiles assignment, and came across some neon orange and black plain wool blend. I have black satiny stuff, so a cap is to be made! MUAHAHAHA!

Because I don't have much to say tonight, I have a video for you:

Discovery of DROPS

I have a new love....Drops/Garnstudio.
I bought 108-110, and fell in love with 109-1. Then 108-3, a lace cap. I went and bought 17 balls of Eskimo in color 46, and 2 balls of Alpaca in Dark Gray.

Along with the yarn, I bought pattern books 105-107, and they are okay, but I'm more of a winter-wear person. I guess I prefer to embrace the summer heat, but bundle up against the winter cold? I hate winter....

I'm working on Kat's blanket, finally. It's squares of Lion Brand Russet and Lion Brand Chenille Ruby Print. Yes, I'm using Acrylic, and I enjoy it!!! Actually, I did go to Yarns at the Adobe the other day with my sister, Allie. I brought her so she could touch things, and get her out of the house. She liked a lacy shrug that I had knit earlier, and had her model for me, so I had her pick out some yarn that she liked so I could knit her one. She picked out Berroco Peruvia Quick, 100% Peruvian highland wool yarn in the sea turtle colorway. I also bought 2 more hanks of Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light in the stone washed mix colorway. It wasn't listed on the Berroco site, so I don't think they make it anymore, I had to go look it up on Ravelry.

Weekend Fun

Saturday was our big day. Michael and I were driving down to Los Angeles to go see Sonata Arctica and Nightwish in concert at the Wiltern. Now, if you don't like rants about music, go away.

I love Sonata Arctica. I drive a sonata, and am getting a magnet made up that says "arctica," yes, I'm that much of a geek. Michael and I saw them in February in San Fransisco up at Slims. They were amazing, and they were touring solo. I left on a high.

Not this time. They only played one good song, Paid in Full, but the rest were new and they were attempting to imitate Nightwish, who sucked hard core. Michael had me listening to them on the way down, but the new singer, they don't even have her on their website, sucks. She butchered the music. I went expecting to hear a musician, not some Disney wanna-be. Anette and Tarja made the band.

Onto knitting news....I finished a scarf on the trip, and started another. I'll try to post pics soon.

Here is a video of Sonata Arctica for your pleasure:

Farmer's Market After-thoughs...

So I gave back my new chicky today, that made me sad. But I got some new baby alpaca sock yarn from the lovely Jen. Then I went to Beverly's to see if they had any more royal colored Lion brand jiffy yarn to complete my baby blanket, lol.

Shannon came over today and we went to Farmer's Market. I've always thought it would be fun to have a stall with the Tuesday Night Knitters. I have decided to knit a few items for my poultry groups, the Serama Council of North America and the Central Coast Feather Fanciers. Both are having shows coming up, the SCNA has 2, one in Ohio and the other in Florida. The CCFF show is in Paso. So I've decided to make up some lace headbands with Lion Brand Microspun, and some scarfs with Lion Brand Homespun. I was also thinking a baby set? I'm not sure, but I'm trying to burn through the Acrylic in my stash, hopefully to get some better stuff. Anyway, I have pictures!

Shake those booties!

I finished my first pair of baby booties! I have successfully completed the Suede boots by Knitty Gritty, although for some reason, I want to say that they adapted the design put out by Berroco...Anyway, they're done and I promise I'll post pictures soon. Not tomorrow, tomorrow is for school, but Tuesday is a good crafting day.

My plan of action now is to finish my Baby Blanket in Royal blue, then make a hat. Most likely the Baby Cable Hat in blue to go with the blanket. Then I'll have to knit up another blanket and hat in female colors to match the baby booties. I want to make a toy with the set as well. For the boy set I want to make a Stegosaurus. So each set will include:
1 Hat
1 Blanket
1 Pair of booties
1 Knitted toy of some sort

I'll be using up stash yarn as I go, and I'll probably be making scarfs and fingerless gloves for mommies and other adults as well.

Adventures in Snake Food

So I went to my local pet store today, Aquatic Adventures, to get 1 rat pup for Hai, and 1 small rat for Cypress, my 2 ball pythons. Before that, I got my hair trimmed by Stacie, my not so lesbian lover. It took 2+ hours for a trim, in a lovely hotel called the Rosegarden Inn.
It was amusing. But anyway, I call the pet shop up, and Bill is there all on his lonesome, no Kurt to be found. Of course, I wanted to speak to Kurt about graduating Cy to a medium rat, and how often I should feed him if he is moved up (twice a month vs. once a week). I show up, and there are:
A) No small rats
B) No medium rats
C) Only rat pups, good for Hai, but not for Cypress, my fat a**

They also had just got in a new Pastel Ball python, most likely a boy about 4-6 months old, a little underfed. Gorgeous Baby, too bad I couldn't take him home. He was a sweetheart and not headshy at all. Anyway, I came home with a new log for my fat a**, 1 rat for Hai, and 2 for Cy, and as of tonight, Cypress has only eaten one. Michael was joking about sticking the other one in the refrigerator "to keep it fresh."

And to top it all off, Hai bit me! It was the first time I've ever been struck at successfully, and it wasn't painful, she just kind of nipped and let go, but it surprised me. The little brat that she is. She's probably mad that I didn't feed her Wednesday as well. Michael laughed at me...

As for crafting, I picked up a stitch on my navy blue baby blanket and then completed a row. Um....sadly, I think that's it. That's all right, because we went to Arroyo Grande and saw the feral chickens and then had lunch at Mo's in Pismo with Uncle Chris and Katrina.
Then I came home, went and got my hair cut, got snake food, and chilled at Michaels. Yep, that was my day. Nice and fun, eh? I plan on using my sister as a model and adding some things onto my etsy page. And updating my website.

Creation of Schnidt Knitter

Being my first blog post, I will begin by saying that small dogs are snake food. In Knitting news, I finished my first Ugg-inspired baby boot yesterday. I made mine in pinkish-purple and white. I made the larger size, and have already started on my second boot.

I went to Yarns at the Adobe today to hang out and knit with the gals. It was fun, although it was just Lorainne and me. We were decorating the shop's paper bags with yarn scraps. I also found a pattern that I want to try out. It's the Ines pattern by Berroco. After I bought the yarn in a blue-gray colorway, I searched for it on Ravelry, and found out that it has listed that you need 2 hanks, but that is only for 1 sock! I hate when people do that. And apparently it's riddled with errors. Oh well, I have 1/2 the yarn, and I bought 2 new sets of double pointed needles(you can never have too many double pointed needles).

I still want to knit the Fluke stocking pattern, although I'm unsure of what color I want them to be. The other stockings on my list are the Lacy Cables Knee Socks by Sock-o-mania. Those are going to be in a black or a soft grey.

I'm continually knitting baby things for the Maxine Lewis Homeless shelter, as well as adult items for the Prado Day Center, MLHS, and the local Women's shelter. I won't be buying any more yarn or fiber this month, I've made my purchases, unless it's to complete a project. Also, I have to finish 1 baby blanket and the set of booties before I can start anything else. Bleg.
